Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Welcome to TheRightClick ("we," "our," or "us"). We align our privacy practices with the principles of transparency and data minimization. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our application.

By using TheRightClick, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

We collect only the information necessary to provide our services.

2.1. Data Controller

The Data Controller for TheRightClick is Alessandro Di Pasquale (or the legal entity operating TheRightClick), based in Italy. You can contact the Data Controller at support@therightclick.click.

2.2. Personal Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Email Address: Used for authentication and account management.
  • hashed Password: We store a secure hash of your password; we never see or store your actual password.

2.3. User Content ("Extensions")

TheRightClick allows you to create, upload, and save browser extension configurations ("Extensions"). When you upload an Extension, we collect:

  • Extension Content: The code, rules, icons, and metadata associated with the extension.
  • Creator Name: The username or identifier you associate with the extension.

Important Note on Public Disclosure:
By uploading an Extension to TheRightClick, you acknowledge and agree that this content will be publicly archived. We upload all approved Extensions to a public GitHub repository named "TheRightArchive" under a GNU General Public License (GPL). This means your Extension code and metadata will be publicly accessible, viewable, and usable by anyone. Do not include sensitive personal information in your Extension code or metadata.

2.4. Usage Data & Cookies

  • Local Storage: We use your browser's Local Storage to store your authentication tokens (session management). We do not use persistent tracking cookies, third-party analytics cookies, or advertising pixels.
  • No Third-Party Tracking: We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any other third-party tracking services to monitor your behavior across the web.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

  • Service Provision: To maintain your account and allow you to save, retrieve, and manage your Extensions.
  • Public Archiving: To contribute to the open-source community by archiving Extensions to "TheRightArchive" on GitHub.
  • Communication: To send you important administrative updates regarding your account (though we rarely do so).

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal identification information to others.

We share information in the following limited circumstances:

  • Public GitHub Repository: As described in Section 2.3, your uploaded Extensions are published to GitHub.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.

5. Data Storage and Security

  • Storage: Your account data (email, saved extensions list) is stored in our database (PocketBase), hosted on Google Cloud. The frontend application is hosted on Vercel.
  • Security: We use standard security measures to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, and specifically under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) if you are in the EU, you have the following rights regarding your data:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you (Article 15 GDPR).
  • Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate data (Article 16 GDPR).
  • Erasure ("Right to be Forgotten"): Request deletion of your account and personal data from our database (Article 17 GDPR). Note that Extensions already published to the public GitHub repository cannot be "un-published" by us once they are public, due to the nature of distributed version control systems (git) and the open-source license granted.
  • Portability: Request to receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format (Article 20 GDPR).
  • Withdraw Consent: You have the right to withdraw consent at any time where we relied on your consent to process your personal information.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
